In January of 2014, Cheryl Elich-Krumpelt entered her first juried photography competition in Los Angeles, CA. Cheryl's photograph was chosen to be included in the exhibition. Encouraged by this outcome, she concentrated on educating  herself about photography, in order to compose an image that tells the story while being beautiful and compelling. Throughout 2013 and 2014, Cheryl's paintings and photographs were juried into exhibitions and competitions including the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2014.  IPA,  a sister effort of the Lucie Awards, selected four of Cheryl's photographs from 27,000 entries from 104 counties for four Honorable Mentions.

Cheryl now combines all of her creative efforts to produce a new form of photography which she calls Artpoetography(TM).  Cheryl's photographs of her original paintings and poetry with her photographs of people, animals or objects. She layers these Photographs to create depth of feeling and meaning.

Cheryl is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and resides in a suburb of Chicago (Lake Barrington) with her husband, children, two horses and three dogs.

Artist Statement: In my work, I am committed to exploring light and how it effects the way in which an object or subject  is perceived by the eye and seen by the lens. I develop a relationship with my art and find myself feeling  color, light, shapes and pulling them out from the camera,  creating a unique representation of the subject. My  photography  not only shows what I see  and what "is", but also has an underling story .  Each one of my creations is my way of communicating to the observer. I am  inspired by the desire for my photography to have meaning and create constructive conversation about how we  live, who we are and what we do. I hope that my work will give others the motivation to explore their own creativity and have the courage to introduce their art to the world.

Fedja Soretic

Fedja Soretic was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia on January 27, 1930, into a prominent artistic family.
1948 he enrolled at the Academy of Visual Art in Belgrade and 1953 graduated in the class of Profesor Nedeljko Gvozdenovic.
1956 he completed postgraduate studies.
From 1956 till now Fedja Soretic is a professor, lecturer and artist with numerous individual and collective art exhibitions in Europe and USA.

Fedja has always admired, golden yellow fields, blooming orchards, verdant landscapes, and country villages and captures that beauty with bright colors and bold brush strokes.
Critics have called him the "Poet of Srem"
because of the pure beauty of his paintings.
Fedja enjoys working with watercolors as well as oils.
His watercolors of Chilandar (Hilandar) motifs are unique masterpieces produced over a period of twenty years time.
To own one of Soretic's watercolors is to own an window with an eternal view to this exceptionally sacred Serbian monastery.

This "Recollections" Exhibition showcases paintings of Hilandar and landscapes of Srem, Paris and Florida, governed principally by impressions from plain-air.
Soretic is inspired by the lively aspect of broad fields of Vojvodina, the landscapes of Srem in different seasons of the year and different cycles of nature.

"An inspired, creative work in painting demands a daily exercise of the spirit, a constant and incessant listening to one's own self, a search for hidden impulses in the depths of one's being, for specific and peculiar shapes."

"Art is natural process, just like life. Art must be lived."
                                                           Fedja Soretic
